Kondoa Irangi Tour from Dar es Salaam
Rock Paintings in Kondoa Irangi contains one of the world’s finest collections of prehistoric drawings. The site has an estimated 1600 individual paintings at almost two hundred different sites. The most accessible cave paintings are in the Irangi Hills north of Kondoa. The most recent date from just a century or two ago, but the oldest are estimated to be between 19,000 and 30,000 years old, ranking them among the world’s most ancient examples of human artistic expression.
Rock Paintings Tour Program
Day 1: Dar es Salaam Dodoma
Early morning departs Dar es Salaam by bus to Kondoa the journey of about 10 hours via Morogoro and Dodoma the capital of Tanzania. Arrive Kondoa in the evening met and transfer to the hotel for overnight.
Day 2: Kondoa Irangi Pahi site
Breakfast and departs to Kolo area for rock paintings tour. This morning you will begining by trekking Mongomi hill where there are 3 sites B1, B2, and B3. The arts here are dated about 10,000 years back. Picnic lunch/ hot lunch and driven to Pahi site to see more rock paintings. The color of the paintings at this site are black and white and it belived that were drawned by the early cattle keeper’s and farmers. Late afternoon drive back to Kondoa for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Kondoa Irangi Thawi Sites
Today proceed with the rock paintings visit to Thawi sites at 09:00 am, hot lunch at 14:30hrs and afternoon proceed to Kandaga sites.
Dinner and overnight at the hotel
Day 4: Kondoa – Dar es Salaam
At 07:00 am, leave Kondoa to Dar es Salaam via Dodoma and short stop for lunch in Morogoro. Arrive Dar es Salaam in the late afternoon where you be dropped in the hotel or airportyou’re your onward flight back home.
